Selkie Geosail
2019 dates: 12th to 17th May 2019 St Kilda geosail
2nd to 6th September 2019 Inner Hebrides and Small Isles
Reaching the places that normal geology trips don't reach ... travelling with the wind, seeing the Hebrides from a different perspective, taking our time to soak up the atmosphere, get in close to the coast to view the geology of inaccessible places and if conditions allow, land occasionally for a wild walk. We can't plan the detailed itinerary in advance, but there are myriad possibilities setting out from Mallaig with a range of geology ahead of us (rocks dating from 3000 million to just 55 million years old). Possibilities include the Outer Hebrides, Skye, Soay, Col and Tiree, or sail north to the Summer Isles or south to Treshnish, Mull, Iona. for this fascinating and exciting sailing and geology trip. Conditions allowing we could get as far as St Kilda.
Selkie is delighted to be working with Angus Miller of Geowalks to bring this opportunity to visit Scotland's finest rocks and landscapes.

This is going to be an unforgettable experience for a small group. For May 2019 voyage we will set out from Mallaig on Sunday evening, and aim to return to anchor off Eigg on the Thursday afternoon; there might be time on the island the following morning, and there are a couple of options for departing Eigg for Mallaig or Arisaig on Friday.

Our food on Selkie is an important part of our voyage and we try to use local produce as much as possible either from Celia's croft or other local Eigg crofts and businiesses. We buy our fish from Andy Race in Mallaig and Glenfinnan estate supplied the venison for 2018. Muck pheasant usually rocks up for a meal. You can enjoy an anchordram as well as a glass of wine, courtesy of the Wine Society, with your meal or a refreshing beer from the Laig Bay Brewing Co. on Eigg.

The cost for our 5 night trip is dependent on your bunk and includes all onboard meals: Double (price for 2 persons) £1850; Single occupancy of double £1325; Aft single £1225; Lower single £1025.
